Who we are?
Senior Personnel Officers who are required to make a significant contribution to corporate personnel policies as part of the development and implementation of personnel/human resource strategy and practice primarily for local government in Scotland but also fire and police services.
What are our objectives?
(i) To consider any matter concerned with personnel management in Local Government in Scotland.
(ii) To contribute to effective local government services in Scotland by influencing key decision makers by:
(a) forming relationships and partnerships;
(b) providing quality advice to stakeholders;
(c) promoting best personnel practice.
(iii) To promote and develop the knowledge, skill and competence of members, and
in the pursuance of this objective to:-
(a) examine suitable means for the exchange of ideas:
(b) promote research and original thinking in personnel management;
(c) provide or join with others in providing such educational activities as may be appropriate.
How are we organised?
The Society members elect annually both the Officers of the Society and an Executive Committee.
There are four geographic groups which all Members of the Society are eligible to attend. The Secretaries of these groups are also on the Executive.
What do we do?
Through a series of portfolio working groups, as well as membership of a range of national groups, we seek not only to respond to Personnel related initiatives but also to influence agendas.
